So you just picked up a Pivos XIOS DS from your local electronics retailer, we’re now going to assume that you’re totally lost and explain to you exactly what to do from top to bottom. We’re currently recommending that you flash your device with XBMC-Linux as it’s substantially more stable and was designed specifically with the Pivos XIOS DS in mind, in time you might want to consider migrating to the Android operating system, but for now take our word for it and stick with this.However, before we begin we’d like to remind you that we’re an open source community that is fuelled by visitors such as yourself, so please do your part and help Contribute to our site’s growth by spending time helping our site in different ways (which we’d prefer), or if you don’t have the time, feel free to make a Donation at anytime, Just keep reading and you’ll have your Pivos XIOS DS running like butter in absolutely no time at all, it might seem complicated but it’s as easy as pie.
HOW-TO INSTALL XBMC ON PIVOS XIOS DS AND THEN CONFIGURE IT WITH THE XBMC HUB WIZARD ADDON
- Pivos XIOS DS Android TV Box
- 2 GB USB Memory Key for M1 Model
- MicroSD Card for M3 Model
PART ONE – FLASH DEVICE
Step 1: Download (M1 Version / M3 Version) and Unzip the Latest Firmware for the Pivos XIOS DS.
Check the serial number of your device to determine whether it’s an M1 or M3:
M1 –> S/N: 0002 G X XX XX XXXX
M3 –> S/N: 0002 G M3 X XX XX XXXX
Step 2: Plug a USB Memory Key into your computer if you’re on the M1 Model, or a MicroSD Card with Adapter if you’re using the new M3 Model.
Step 3: Format the USB Memory Key to the FAT file system. New USB Memory Keys could probably skip this step.

Step 4: Copy the “update.img” file from Step 1 onto the USB Memory Key.
Step 5: Eject the USB Memory Key from your computer.
Step 6: Connect the USB Memory Key to the Pivos XIOS DS device.
Step 7: Use a Paper Clip to press down on the Reset button at the bottom of the device at the same time that you plug the electrical power source into it. Let go of the Paper Clip once you see the green Android mascot or recovery menu popup on the screen. Choose the “Update from sdcard” function and then select the plain “update.img” file, if prompted.
Step 7: Once the device reboots into XBMC, you’ll want to unplug the electrical power source as well as unplug the USB Memory Key from the device.
Step 8: Using the Paper Clip once again, hold down on the Reset button on the bottom of the device at the same time as you connect the electrical power source. Let go of the Paper Clip once you see the green Android mascot or recovery menu popup on the screen.
Step 9: Choose “3.wipe data/factory reset” from the on screen options.
Step 10: Once completed, you can choose the “1.reboot system now” option at the top of the menu. XBMC will now launch automatically upon reboot.
PART TWO – SETUP OPTIONS
Step 11: Navigate to the “SYSTEM” menu on the far right and choose the “Settings” tab.
Step 12: Click on the “Appearance” menu on the left side of the window.
Step 13: Should the interface not seem to fit properly on your television, under the “Skin” tab on the left side, go down and set “Zoom” to the “-4%” setting.
Step 14: Go to the “International” tab on the left side of the window, and under the “Timezone country” setting, go up until you’ve reached “Canada” of course.
Step 15: Directly under that setting, you’ll find the “Timezone” field, go up until you’ve reached the “America/Montreal” option. Press the “BACK” button on the remote control once to go back one menu level.
Step 16: Optionally, go to the “Services” tab on the left menu bar, then go down to the “AirPlay” tab, and toggle on the “Allow XBMC to receive AirPlay content” feature. Press the “BACK” button on the remote control once to go back one menu level.
Step 17: Open the “System” menu from the left side bar, and then scroll down to the “Internet access” tab.
Step 18: On the right side of the window, click on where it says “no connection” next to the “Network Connection” field.
Step 19: Select your wireless or wireless internet connection from the list, enter your network security key when prompted, then press the “Done” button.
Step 20: Wait a few seconds while your internet connection authenticates, it will return to the previous screen, this time with your internet connection listed next to the “Network Connection” field once successfully connected. Press the “BACK” button on the remote control twice to go back to the main menu.
PART TWO – CONFIGURE XBMC ADDONS
Step 1: Navigate to the “File Manager” tab under the “SYSTEM” menu.
Step 2: Choose the “Add Source” function on the left side of the window.
Step 3: Under the top field marked marked “Enter the paths or browse for the media locations” enter “http://fusion.xbmchub.com” without quotations, then press the “Done” button on the side of the on-screen keyboard.
Step 4: Under the “Enter a name for this media Source” field enter “fusion” without quotations and then press the “Done” buttom to complete.
Step 5: Press on the “OK” button at the bottom of the window to save the source.
Step 6: Verify that “fusion” is listed on the left side of the File Manager window, then return to the main menu.
Step 7: Go to “Settings” under the “SYSTEM” menu.
Step 8: Choose the “Add-ons” menu option on the left side of the window, press “Ok” if prompted with a first time use message.
Step 9: Select the “Install from zip file” function listed.
Step 10: Click on the “fusion” server item.
Step 11: Open the “hubwizard-beta” folder.
Step 12: Choose the “plugin.video.hubwizard.zip” file and wait a few seconds for it to install, then return to the main menu.
Step 13: Navigate to the “PROGRAMS” menu, then to “Program Add-ons” if given the option.
Step 14: Click on the “Hub Wizard” addon listed.
Step 15: Wait for the short promotional message to play, press the back or exit button to hide it afterwards.
Step 16: Select the platform you are using, we’ve chosen “Mac” for this example.
Step 17: Wait a few minutes for the add-on to download the appropriate configuration content.
Step 18: Press “OK” when prompted that the procedure is complete, then return to the main menu.
Step 19: Quit “XBMC” by clicking the little power button in the lower left corner or reboot your device then relaunch it and voila!
Step 20: Enjoy your fully customized, pre-configured XBMC setup.
