What is Stremio?
Stremio is a streaming app available on Android TV via the official Google Play store. Its function is similar to addons in Kodi, allowing you to browse and find the latest content to watch. Being a standalone app, it provides faster loading time and more integrated user experience than using kodi with addons. The app is also highly customizable, and it even supports using Kodi as the player for content.
Similar to Kodi, Stremio requires addons to access your favorite content. However, unlike Kodi, Stremio’s addons are installed online rather than on your local storage. This setup is ideal for devices with limited storage, such as FireStick and Android TV Boxes, allowing you to add numerous addons without concerns about running out of space. Additionally, because Stremio’s addons are installed online, you only need to set them up on one device, and they will automatically sync across all your devices.
How do I install Stremio on my Android TV device?

You can easily install Stremio via the Google Play store on any Android TV Device. Just head into the google play store app that’s already pre-installed on your Android TV. To do that, go into “Apps” at the top of the screen.
Click on “Google Play Store”.
Hit “up” button on your controller to go to search.
Enter “Stremio” into the search bar and you should be able to install the app here. Since I’ve already installed the app, it only shows “open”.

Setting Up Plugins
Safety and Legality
In terms of safety, Stremio should be safe as it is an app from the official Google Play Store.
Before we dive deeper into the plugins, it is important to note that it is impossible for us to determine whether certain plugins are legal or not in your particular country. We have readers from all over the world and the legal definitions vary significantly from country to country. Readers will have to determine on their own if the behaviors are legal in their particular countries.

- Fill in the settings based on your preferences. You can always adjust them again by reinstalling the plugin.
- Remember to choose “RealDebrid” as your debrid provider.
- Login to your real debrid account.
- Go to the Real Debrid API token settings page.
- Copy and paste the API to the form.

Wrapping Up
Strong Competitor to Kodi
Stremio offers several notable advantages, including automatic synchronization of addons and settings across all devices, which simplifies access to your content no matter where you are. The software is highly customizable, allowing integration with various media players like Kodi and JustPlayer, and it seamlessly connects with Trakt for tracking your viewing habits. However, it does have some drawbacks: it does not support mixed playback of online and local media, limiting you to streaming content only. This means users cannot play locally stored files through Stremio, which could be a limitation for those who prefer a hybrid media experience.
